GenX is a movement designed to create fellowship and spiritual growth, through various activities and focus groups, connecting on a local, regional and national level.
MISSION STATEMENT: The ministry of GenX is to identify, share, challenge and inspire all Xers, as they look to conquer the issues facing their generation. GenX shall also strive to equip all Xers with the resources needed to fulfill their individual purpose and destiny. This shall ultimately inspire GenX to influence and connect with other Xers of all races, ethnic groups and those from all religious backgrounds.
ABOUT:Generation X consists of nearly 65 million people born between the years of 1965-1980. It is the 13th generation going back to the founding of our country. Often called the Lost Generation, Generation X is probably the most ignored, mis-understood and disheartened generation of American history. Studies have found that many portrayals of Generation X have been unduly negative. Part of this stigma is that Generation X has always had to deal with living in the shadow of the Baby Boom Generation, hence the ongoing conflict. Known as the Latch Key Kids, Generation Xers have a great sense of independence. In comparison to previous generations, Xers were often from homes where both parents were working or where there was just a single parent. On top of all of these family challenges, Xers were forced to think and communicate in the midst of a tidal wave of information and sophisticated technology. This has created a generation that is flexible, adaptable, technically advanced, independent and entrepreneurial in business. Generation Xers reject the mindset of just following out of loyalty, but rather follow after a sense of self reliance that is factual and ethically based. Xers are coming of age as a generation and are assuming an increasingly important role in society. This is creating a great challenge to religious leaders who are trying to bridge the gap not only socially but religiously. Xers are driven by success and following opportunity where ever it may take them. The alarming thing is that their pursuit is taking them outside the walls of the local church. Xers are looking for direction and questions to life’s dilemmas. Either we meet the challenge or we all shall be spectators of the largest generational divide in our lifetime.
